Monday, January 12, 2015 At approximately 7:20 pm Manalapan Twp Fire Co.1 was alerted to a reported house fire. 26-2-66, 26-2-78,and 26-2-96 checked in service immediately, followed closely by 26-2-90. Chief 26-2-66 arrived on location in under 5 minutes reporting nothing showing from the exterior, with all residents evacuated. Upon further investigation, heavy smoke was reported throughout the residence; possibly coming from the heating vents. Upon arrival, 26-2-78 was assigned to interior operations. Firefighters were able to determine that the smoke originated from the furnace, and was a spread through the HVAC system. The power was shutoff and access was gained to the furnace, revealing that it had indeed caught fire. Firefighters from Manalapan and Englishtown were able to ventilate the residence with no further incident. Departments assisting with this incident included Millstone (32-1), Englishtown (12-1), Freehold Twp Independent (16-1), Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid (26-21), and Manalapan PD. All units were clear of the scene approximately 1 hour after initial dispatch.
