At approximately 1:40 PM, firefighters from Manalapan Township Fire Co.1 (26-2), Englishtown Fire Dept. (12-1), and Gordons Corner Fire Co. (26-1) were alerted to a possible dryer fire at the Village Inn Laundromat in Englishtown. Englishtown Police officers arrived seconds later, and confirmed a working fire in the dryers. While police officers administered oxygen to an occupant suffering from smoke inhalation, units responding requested a full second-alarm assignment, alerting Freehold Boro Fire Dept (15-1), Freehold Independent Fire Co. (16-1), and engine from Monroe Station 57, a RIT team from Monroe Station 23, and en engine from Jamesburg Fire Dept. The fire was extinguished by crews from engines 12-74 and 26-2-78. Responding units from Monroe, Jamesburg, and Freehold Boro were returned to their stations while and engine from 16-1 responded to the firehouse on Sweetmans Lane to handle any further calls in Manalapan, along with units from 26-1 which were staged in Englishtown. All fire department units cleared the scene with no further incident at around 3:45 PM. Also assisting was Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid, Englishtown Fire Bureau, and Monmouth County Fire Marshalls Office.
