During the early evening hours of April 13, 2015 the Monmouth County 9-1-1 center received a call of a reported house fire on Back Bone Hill Rd in Millstone. Millstone Twp Fire Dept ladder truck was first to arrive on scene and confirmed heavy fire in the rear of the house. A 3rd alarm was transmitted, bringing in fire departments from Monmouth County, Mercer County, and Ocean County. 26-2-78 arrived and was assigned the task of pulling ceiling in an attempt to gain attic access. Units were able to make entry into the residence and found a large volume of fire throughout the attic. Conditions quickly deteriorated, causing Incident Command to order all firefighters out of the building. Due to a lack of hydrants in the area, multiple water tenders were requested with 2 fill sites established. 26-2-77 was stationed at the hydrant on the corner of Sweetmans Ln and Woodward Rd. At approximately 7:20 PM, the fire was declared under control with extensive overhaul operations due to roof collapse. All fire department apparatus were clear of the scene at 10:00 PM. Departments on scene included Millstone Fire Dept (32-1), Manalapan Twp Fire Dept (26-2), Freehold Independent Fire Co. (16-1), Englishtown Fire Dept (12-1), Adelphia Fire Co. (19-2), Gordons Corner Fire Co. (26-1), Allentown Fire Dept (82-1), Cassville Fire Co., Cranbury Fire Dept, East Windsor Fire Dept, Hightstown Fire Dept., Monroe EMS, Roosevelt First Aid (41-21), Millstone First Aid (32-21), Millstone Ladies Aux, Monmouth County Fire Marshall (93), and NJSP.
